Recently the Poker presenter Phil Ivey had a friend called Roy Sum:(pokerjazz77.site) asked me to dedicate a column about the Texas Hold’em tournament. I accepted this invitation because; Phil is one of my favorite poker players and I’ve won some money playing with him.
My first impression of Texas Hold’em was that it’s a very simple game to learn. But as I learnt more about it, I found out that this is actually a very difficult game to learn. It’s very basic, but at the same time there’s a lot of things that must be figured out. Even when I started to learn poker, I didn’t know all the Texas Hold’em rules, so when I got to the point where I knew them all, it was like learning something rather complex. Anyhow, the first thing I wanted to learn was which cards to play.
When you’re dealt your two cards, you have to decide whether you have a good poker hand or not. Is it a good hand? If you’re holding two cards of the same denomination, you have. That’s called “twobuying”. If you have one of the two cards, you just play on. You don’t necessarily have to buy all the time. You simply don’t play with your cards.
In Texas Hold’em you can play both Banker and Player. Usually you want to play Banker for the amount of money you have, and the other person for the money that’s in the pot. You don’t have to worry about the money in the pot, except if you win on it, that’s it. However, in Omaha Hi, it’s best to play Banker first. You can make more money by getting more people to bet. The more bets you’re involved with, the more you make.
